i wanted to let you all know about a free, unique dj tool called "rapid
evolution" available at www.mixshare.com (which has come a
long way since its conception several years ago). i know a lot of
people don't understand how software can be useful for mixing and are
against the idea, but i must say it helps you take your music to a
whole new level! it's not about doing the mixing or song
selection for you, but about letting you become intimate with your
songs and mastering the technical aspects behind the music. if
you don't need help in that area, it is also an efficient tool to
remember all song and mix information (which is undeniably valuable,
it's like having a photographic mixing memory). the software is
also collaborive in nature, allowing djs to share song and mix
information with each other. those who are able to take advantage
of this technology (those with access to a computer while they mix) are
creating better quality mixes and remembering everything they come up
with. don't listen to djs who try to tell you how mixing should
be (i.e. that you shouldn't use such software). so check it out
and if you have any ideas for features be sure to share them on the
site's forum, as it's a constant work in progress. if you don't
like it, don't use it... ;-)

cheers!
