Goto studio :smiley17:... i mean, get a mike and record something then use Sound Forge for edits and then import as a WAV into FL :smiley2:... i also use FL (3.56 & 4.12) but i dun use no vocalshttp://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley5.gif:smiley4:...

I have done vocal stuff in fl 4. But I recorded in in sound forge. I don't fully know what you mean by professional. Do you mean record quality or a professional sounding ambience and blending with the track.

for quality..

1. Get a good mic, its doesn't have to cost loads but it has to pick up a good range. Ifs it all made of plastic and comes in a vac formed packet with karaoke written on it, its a NO.

2. Your sound card and sample rate. If you are going to be serious set high sample rate. But becareful if your computer/ sequencing program can't handle it it could screw it up.

3. record into sound forge and chop it up. *also make sure you record it in a suitable enviroment, as in no background noise.

AMBIENCE(OR WHATEVER)

1. Out of preference I don't use an EQ or anything in soundforge, I use plugins in FL. This is because I like to be able to alter things in real time and sometimes I totally change my mind about what I want.

2. First EQ the vocal to the track, I assume you are writing Dnb, but your vocals could be anything. You'll probably want to trim the bass out so it doesn't interfere with the track. Im not going to get in to much more detail because, this is to do withmastering.

3. Real vocals tend to sound harsh http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley18.gifand isolated http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley19.giffrom the music. Try putting reverb on to blend it in. try using a very quiet phaser set to the BPm of the tune on top of this.

4. If you are using a compressor on your beats or a phaser in the main riff. move it to a send channel and send what was orginally going to it as well as the vocals (gently). This is really good because the vocals have something in common with the music in the tune. They should be sounding less isolated :smiley4:.

5. If you want something really crazy http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley5.gifjust use a vocoder.
