hi guys.

ok ive finneshed a track usingmi machines n(cubase), basically ive recorded into cubase to be mastered , but in a few places on the track its slipped out of time? only 3 /4 times like. i have chopped up the waves to make it all fit ok now , but is there a solution to this for future referances , would it be my soundcard or wotty wot wot??

cheers

Ok, first have you got things like screen savers and stuff like that turned off on your pc. When they activate they can often cause jumps.

Not sure about your soundcard, and if that is causing the probs, but one option you could try is when recording your audio just record it in small chunks anyway…. At least then you get a better chance of less stutters and you can put all the pieces back together once you’ve chopped the back up. This also means you’ve got manageable chunks to process separately if need be…..

Hope this helps….

there are latency setings you can change most definately, in logic you go to your soundcards setup options, it must be the same in cubase, i had tomess about with this once, and i managed to get it working ok, just had to fix it by ear, but that was a long time ago when my pc was pretty crap.

whats your pc setup?

you can also delay the channel slightly, if the whole track is out by a tiny bit.

hi guys , yeah i have the screensavers deactivated, the pc itself is a pentium 4 and 768 mb of ram, the sound card is a m audio 2496, yeah plus i had no vst's working on this track it was just the jomox, yeah 3 times throught the track it went slighlty offbeat, only for a second like. do you think this is to do with the latency settings , as i thought if it was a latency issue it would be slightly out all the time ??

cheers

how out of time is it, i mean theres a chance its latency problems, have you updated your drivers, also make sure the soundcard is not in the top pci slot, that slot is reserved for graphics and shares the same irq as the agp slot, always leave that slot empty.

but i seems like the thing isnt setup right mate, normally a decent card will rcord pretty much on time without too many problems, what are you recording into, logic or cubase?

hey tobes , yeah i think the card is in the right place , a freind put it togeather for me and he seems to know his stuf!, any way its 2 up from the bottom . also im recording into cubase . it was mainly the hats or snair that would go out of time , the rest of the instruments were fine like. maybe its something to do with my jomox ?or a faulty midi lead???? i dunno like?

cheers

Have you tried recording into something else, like S.forge (or whatever wave editor you use?).

This is how i always do mine.

Also, have you tried what i said in a previous post about recording it all in little chunks. I did a course on Logic a while back and the tutor (who worked for e-magic) said one thing with Logic which is a known problem is recording in LONG sections of audio...so that's what he recomended doing if you get such problems.

Other than that mate dunno.....

Anyway, what's a Jomox ?
