i dont really understand what you want to do, you saying you want to use your vst eq with your desk, you mean you want to route audio back into a vst?
if you can explain a bit more what your trying to do and i will try my best to help you :smiley4:

alright m8 ,sorry i dident explain my self very well..yeah basically i want to send my vst instruments to my external desk, im hating the virtual e/q and mixer........ i have about 7 free channels on my mixing desk , so i thought it would be good to get em used , some 1 was saying its possible to route virtual effects to the mixing desk so i can effect the hardware in real time .......... are you using hardware at all tobes?
cheers

yeah mate, i use a lot of outboard gear, the way you can do this mate is if your mixing desk has midi in and out, you can then set your mixing desk up to control your vst instruments etc, you will need to set the desk to a certain midi chanel then set up cubase so one of the tracks controls the desk.
dont you know how to use the automation in cubase? if you wanted you could just draw in the eq's etc, you can get some wicked sounds drwaing in the midi messages.
so have a look and see if your desk has midi then come back and tell me what the desk is so we can hunt down some user manuals and have a look.
our member jcat is the cubase expert here, you could pm him im sure he will get back to you.
chat to you in a bit man :smiley2:

hi tobes i put the same question on another forum, some guy says this, im prety sure i told him what mixer i had , i'll ask him if the analog /digital thing wil l make a differance.. any way here it is , let me know what yee make out of it ?
yep (assuming you have a multichannel soundcard...),
in cubase as standard all outputs are routed to the master output, if you press F4 the master output panel opens, turn the alternate output channels on, then connect your cables up and off you go... you can route any audio channel or vst output to any master out, SX's really flexible and I reckon having an external desk's a good way to work,
I use an external desk with 10 outputs from the PC to the desk, and usually have a master stereo pc out, one output for kick, one for bass which is overpatched if i use a hardware bass synth, a stereo drum mix which has a compressor strapped accross it to bring the drums together, and the other outs i use for VST's, I like this as it means i always have the controlls for kick, bass, drums etc to hand without having fo bring up and locate them in the mixer window...
If you have a spare pair of inputs to your PC you can even run your desk auxilary sends into your pc and use master reverb & delay plugins or any fx on your hardware in realtime

im sorry dude, maty is right and i thought you wanted to do something else, sorry i thought you wanted to use your desk to control the midi controlers in cubase http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley9.gif
sorry dude, i went off on the wrong end of the stick, matey boy is right, you can send as many outputs from cubase as your soundcard can handle, i have a soundscape mixtreme, it alows me to send 16 digital tracks simultaniously to my mixing desk, a lot of sound cards are only sterio out.
whats your sound card man, sorry to have misunderstood you dude, anyway im surprised you want to send your audio through your desk if you only want it for eq'ing, you not tried other plugins?

hahah cool...... ive got a m audio 2496 , not the right card like...... yeah i want to use the main mixer e/q's cuz they sound much better and its more hands on :) wich i like, stops me from stairing at the pc for too long aswell lol......
plus i have a jomox airbase wich only takes 10 channels , i have 6 left on the desk and ide rather use software for my synths , as there getting quite good these days..
cheers

Yeah, if you've got no decent digi EQ's then just use your desk.
The only drawbacks are if it's analogue that you probably haven't got automation or recall on the desk. So it's kinda hard to work on more than one thing at once without getting naffed of with re-setting up the desk every time (digi camera can be good for recording what was set to where)...
Cheers,
jcat
