Ok, can somebody help me out with some't basic on the Exs24.

I was round at my mates last night working on some beats and he uses the EXS24 sampler (something i don't normally use). I'm wanting to group samples in a Zone so i can have independant filter cut-off settings for each group which i didn't have any probs setting up, but how do automate the filter cut-off for just one group without automating all of the samples in that sampler/on that channel?

Why can't i also alter things like envelopes for individual samples also?

I can do this with my hardware sampler, but this really p!ssed me off last night and meant we had to spend ages moving samples and having to use numerous EXS24's running all at once just to get something simple up and running, with regards to a sound that can be automated in a multitude of ways.

Surely the EXS24 isn't limited in this way......if it is, anybody recomend a soft sampler that has independent settings for samples rather than the whole thing.

Cheers

Foax.

i got to say im not 100% about filters for seperate samples in a group, i thought a filter willl always affect the whole channel, not just one sound, like you say mate im not sure how to do it but must be possible, but like what you guys are doing i would just have more and more channels for each sound.

something you could try which may work, not sure tho.http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley5.gif

ok lets say youve got 5 samples set into a preset or group, whatever the esx calls them, ok thats on instrument channel 8, have you tried duplicating chanell 8 5 times, 5 copys of the same track one for each sample, then you may be able to automate one track without it affecting the other track even tho they are all on the same channel, now this is just an idea, im probably talking out of my ass.

if that fails email your queery to oracle while hes over at his cousins, sounds like hes a pro in all this.

good luck mate http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley10.gif

Yeah Tobes some't like that would probably work (but you'd have to remove any duplicated samples first).

I'm just trying to avoid the whole having to use a million channels for just one break type scenario.....

sounds like your break is kinda complex, what you trying to do add automated filteration throughout on seperate beats?

Not so much just on breaks, although i do use envelopes a lot on my breaks to tighten them up, and filtering individual hits is something that is sometimes useful (depends on the break, where i've took it from etc).

A good example is probs vocals, once chopped up these i always treat seperately and access to individual settings is a must I find.....
