Its hard for me to always be up to the minute on whats going with DnB in the U.K but I have noticed quite a change in the production... Such producers like Pendulum and Fresh for example have some of the dopest tracks in my opinion however I noticed it leaves less time for mixing. Im sure the veteran's have no problems with this but damn working with several diffrent beat patterns in a tune makes it difficult for at least me to get a great mix.... Mind you im still quite a novice in comparison to most but im sweating bullets over here. I do hope I dont sound like a moron in saying that but its just how im feeling right now. Maybe I just need a damn mentor to take me under their wing and show me the ways. I love this sh*t with all my heart and will continue to do my best regardless. Just maybe need some advice with working with such beat patterns. Oh well thats it for my rambling, let me to know what think. Thanks, Rick

I agree the music is getting harder to mix, but i wouldn't say for the reasons above.

A break in a tune regardless how many times it changes should always be playing at the same tempo, so matching beat timingsshouldn't really be a problem. The problem comes when the breaks don't suit each other, so you're bound to get a dodgy sounding mix as hits clash. It's all about tune selection, and being more careful about what tunes you play together....

Other than that, my problems stem fromthere beignamuch wider variety of chords being used in dNb today than ever before. So the mixing of 2 tunes in different key's is always going to be more difficult.

I'm not going to complain tho, it can only mean the music is progressing, and if that means it's no longer all suitable to be mixed by DJ's in the way we do today then so be it....

i agree key clashing is a f**ker and happens loads in our liquid style, not as much in the darker tunes tho.

but also watch out for those triplets in a break, there a f**ker to mix, but it is always possible :smiley2:

Yeah it can be done, just listen that bit harder, and as i said choose your tunes carefully.

Obviously any track will mix with another, but to get it to sound 'right' you got to be selective......

Yeah those are also points that I was thinking about as well but not sure how to word them correctly but yeah thats true expecially with the triplets in a break.... I am glad that Drum N Bass is progressing as well. I think we can see more and more of this because especially in America, DnB has gotten quite popular and as well as American DJ's, Producers as well seem to be competing using new techniques. I recently got a tune by Dennis H. Crist, Midi Man and Sparks and in the track "The Key" a quote from "X-Men" was used speaking about evolution.... I take that as a sign that we have to evolve in order survive.... Awsome feedback guys. Thankyou.
