Not a dNb album, but what do you all reckon to 'The Streets'.....and his new (& old) album?

Personally i find the whole thing damn annoying, and so outdated it's embarrasing.....http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley9.gif

The whole idea of some 'scutter' talking crap basically; smack head, rude bwoy, look mum i'm on pirate radio stylee (which isn't a cool thing to do at all round my way, that sort of chat either gets you laughed at forever, or usually smacked!)

Anyway, just heard a track off his new album called 'Blinded by the Light' which is actually quite good....the only thing that ruins it (which seems to be the same with all his tracks) is him talking sh!z over the top of it.

I just don't get it.....he's obviously got a talent for making music, but why ruin it all with cheesy vocals that you can imagine some 13 year old, hi-hat-cap wearing, scutt junkie came up with down at his local youth club.....

Ok rant over.... what do you all think ?

Some people seem to love it, and rate him as something of a genius that's never been done before..........(Eh http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley11.gif!)

I can dig the streets. People usedto go nuts when I'd open a set with "Let's Push Things Forward", But I stopped playingit once I heard it on a major network sitcom. I still drop some of the other tunes at house parties and what not.Haven't heard the new album yet though.

After pondering the thought of why I like the streets this is what I've come up with.

It's catchy and the lingo over there has always amused me.

Is there anything that "Americans" say that you guys find humorous? I have a friend in Whales that always thought "What's Up" was really funny.

The thing with the 'Streets' style lingo is the way (round my town) that all the undesireables talk..... Ya know the type, caps so high on their heads they're ready to fall off, eyebrows shaved, baggy tracksuits, trainers so big they can probs fit 2 feet in shoe, clock white faces (u jus know what they've been doing)...... always hanging about in town with a bottle of cidley, acting all ruffass, and taxing anybodythey catch in a dark corner....

'Yeah it really is that bad in some parts....'

To me the Streets is modelled on this whole bad bwoy image, and whenwhen there are a million & one clones of Mike Skinner in my town (and has been for as long as i can remember) it's really hard to see where the originality in his persona and lyrics comes in.

Just my opionion tho.....http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley36.gif

sorry mate, i think youve got the wrong idea man, the streets is about having a laugh, a bit like the old madness stuff, funny really im from London and they just seem like cokney boys to me having a laugh.

i think humour has to be implemented by someone into music, so i am really not bothered by there style, i think its allright.
