what help do you need with reason, i will try my best mate.. i havent made my own beats as yet just layered different beats to get an original sound, ive made my own beats for hard house and funky etc, but it is difficult making the drum and bass beats with reason, basslines no trouble etc... if you get stuck i will try and help as much as i can, i started with reason in january but got advice and professional help (a mate uses it as well hes a proproducer) no quite alot about it all now but the lack of sleep and hours spent at the computer helped alot, all good fun tho mate..

Listen to the music you like deeply from an analytical point of view, make notes on the structure and try to simulate that with your own vibe.

In terms of the quality of sound/s you get from reason, invest in some refills, sample your own stuff also. Lsten out for loops sounds that can be manipulted easily.

In Reason learn to useone device very well at a time, and actually try to imagine the program is a rack of hardware.

Buy a book on sound synthesis. Buy a book on mixing and mastering techniques and experiment with them.

Regularly buy Sound on Sound, Future Music or even Computer Music, there are also other magazines that have come out recently which might be worth a look. Sound on Sound may be daunting if you are new to producing so try another mag if that is the case.

If there is anything you wish to know specifically let me know.
