Hey everyone. I am new to mixing and wanted to get some insight from everyone. I picked up Acid 4.0 so I could have a program to start with. Good choice or bad choice? It seems user friendly for mixing. Another questions, what program do you suggest to mix your own beats? How is soundforge 7.0? Does soundforge allow me to record from a midi source? Again, any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Assuming you are PC (Windows) based
Reason would be my advice to a first time buyer, which in itself is a small virtual studio.
Then get Wavelab and Recycle, so you can create your owns samples, you don't want to use too many commercial sample collections or you'll sound like everything else.
After that go forCubase,Reason and Cubase work together brilliantly.
Get some quality VST effects and dynamics plug-ins, and VSTi softsynths.
You then have a virtual studio, which depending on your soundcard could produce very good sounding results.
Cheers.Edited by: Lazarus
