hey,

just checking in and saying "hi." are there any other peeps from the old u.s. of a.? found this site from a link to some house tracks... i was a little surprised to see the board run by d&b heads. anyway i'm an old acid-jazz head, so whatever is new & fresh is ok with me--so long as it's funky... uploaded a few pics in my gallery that were actually from 2-step garage events...

thanks! i'm about to do another event wed the 25th. should be a lot of fun--similar crew to the new years gig...

don't know if you're married or otherwise "occupied," but an accent will get you in some conversations here--never too many brits, really. it all depends on the type of people you like to hang with.

"estate" as in realty? sorry, slight difference in terms here. property's pretty expensive here, unless you'rewilling to move to a (real or perceived)"dodgy" area. do you know the neighborhoods out here at all? man, wish i could buy your place! of course, then i'd have to find work. i'm imagining that wouldn't be all that easy since u.s. citizens aren't part of eu...

i've been doing my own gigs since the mid 90s.

the jazz scene here is weird. there's the muso jazz scene which i'm tangental to. i sometimes jam as a dj w/bands and i used to lead a couple bands that i played keys in. playing in bands turned out to not be as much fun for me as spinning. i still pull out the chops when i make tunes though.

i used to put on some shows that appealed to the muso's & djs (jazzid up! & vibes), and then i just went full-bore into the dj thing. i've put on acid-jazz shows, and post-a/j shows (i.e., we couldn't really use that term anymore, but we were still doing the same danceable eclectic routine.) for instance, people knew me in some parts of town as a d&b guy (cuz i was one of the few that was playing to non-d&b heads), and others knew me as a downtempo/hiphop guy at the same time.then i started playing 2-step garage and became known for that (although i still played the other stuff too,) and now some people think of me as a broken-beat guy, and there's even a lot of house that i'm feeling right now.

so i call myself a jazz-dance dj (a way around the dreaded "acid-jazz"), and it allows me to play whatever i'm feeling, yet let people know i'm a DANCEFLOOR guy.
