oh i see what you mean, well to be honest i think its nearly impossible to filter out that much sound, but after listening to all of forshays accapellas i wonder if he has got this down to an art, i havent seen him for a couple of weeks, hopefully when he comes back he can shed some light on anything he may know, there might even be a plugin for it.

emailhim if your in a hurry:smiley2:

I posted a tutorial on how to do that for acapellas, http://www.itstooloud.com/webwiz/forum_posts.asp?TID=368&amp (http://www.itstooloud.com/webwiz/forum_posts.asp?TID=368&PN=1) ;PN=1

For instrumentals, its near impossible. The best way to get an instrumental is to do what I do. Listen very closely to a song, at verious points in it, there will be pauses of the vocals, during these points, I take the music info and in Acid, split the track and extract that part, if you get enough splits, you can put them together and create loops out of it. Mind you it is very, very time consumming. But worth it in the end.

i heard of a technique for removing vocals from tracks but am not sure on its reliability as i have never tried it myself.

you basically need 2 copies of the same song...one an instrumental and the other with the vocal making sure they are both exactly the same length and exactly the same in content...with one just minus the vocal.

apparently you can then layer both together and then....erm...http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley5.gif....the 2 instrumentals cancel wach other out....erm...then....leaving you with the vocal http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley29.gif

of course....it sounded better when i read it properley on the net awhile ago but i cant remember where so this post has really been a complete waste of time and thus makes me look a complete tool....

i thankyou....

ez mate,

yeah i think thats what djbug is on about cancelling out the sounds, but from what ive learnt about phase and reversing phase on audio signals i doubt it will work very well, as the two signals would have to be exact in every way, i would like to try it out tho, but need some samples to try it with.

when i studied sound engineering they did teach us about how to cancell sounds with reverse phase but that was with a sine wave and not a complex sound wave.

so untill i try this i am skeptical, anyone got two identical samples one with and one without vovals?

good to see you round Oracle.
