Don't mean to insult intelligence but have you tried locking them once they in position?

you joker, if i knew how to do it thats what i would do,,, do you know how to do it mate?
Wait one while I crank up my lappy and I'll have a look.....I know you can lock them in Flash so I dont see why you can't in DW
I stand corrected there doesn't appear to be a way to lock the layers in place, but have you tried snapping them to grid?
Select the layer then select view>snap to grid
or align them..... modify>align
What exactly is happening when you preview them in browser?
Are you measureing the page size in pixels or as a percentage?

meusering in pixels, ive been snapping them to grid, but when i preview it in a browser the layers move, so i cant align the layers, maybe im not doing it righthttp://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley19.gifim only using two layers, will use more once i can get this sorted
Is the one layer nested within the other?
Can make things move a bit randomly sometimes!

heres what i have tried to do, i started with a 800 x 600 image .gif i made this central, i then creat a layer over the image where i want to add some text i create a teble cell inside the layer and then type in the cell, but when i preview it in the browser the text has moved and is not aligned any more, ive tried all combinations, like big pic in a layer, then another layer with the text, and even other options but no luck, i may have the layer nested on now, but ive tried it with and without, infact ive tried bloody everything, but im sure its something really stupid,,,,http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley11.gif
cheers for the help loki
http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley9.gifat a loss then mate,
My DW is on a lappy and Im sat on a PC, DW is sketchy at best on the lappy but as I have sh*tloads of time on my hands I'll look at it when I return from screaming match at work tomorrow, though no doubt you'll have solved it by then...probably a check in the wrong box, or one that is annoyingly easy to overlook............like windoze media player!!!:smiley3:
Anyhow good luck and I'll try what you have said your doing tomorrow and see if I get same....what version DW are you using?
What are the layers measured in? I mean are they measured by percentage when page is in pixels? dont mean to keep labouring the point but start with the simple stuff that could go wrong and then look deeper then!?!? Just a thopught anyway
