I cant really help people with cubase, cos Logic audio is my tool, but here is some pointers in setting up logic audiohttp://www.itstooloud.com/forum/icon_smile_big.gifhttp://www.itstooloud.com/forum/icon_smile_cool.gif

this is a picture of logic six, and boy am i pissed they wont make it for pc users,

right first off you want to go to the audio tab, select audio hardware and drivers, this is where you need to setup your card, here is a picture of my setup, obviously i use a digital card and its different to yours but it should give you an idea of setup configuration, note in audio driver 2 i have ASIO selected http://www.itstooloud.com/vr/img-lib/logic%205.5.1.jpg

once youve done that you will probably want to create an arrangement page for your studio setup, ie: audio chanels, midi chanels & instrument channels, when you click on a track you will notice the box on the left change for every track change

if you look where mine says out-B2 USB, this is where you selesct the midi port for each track, I have 32 midi channels so I have outA and outB, i need to set each chanell up so they will work when i selct them and play my keyboard.

Ok so you were talking about plugins, there are two ways to use plugins in logic, you can either double click an audio track and hopefully the mixer page will apear, you need to click insert on a track and you will see your list of plugins, make sure youve put all your vst plugins in the vst folder in logic audio folder, ok so thats the easy way to select a plugin, ok in the mixer page, select an audio track, on the left of the mixer click where it says track 12(for example), you will see a drop down menu appear, you want to create some instrument tracks, i have audio channels 12-16 set as instruments set instrument 1 for track 12, instrument 2 for track 13 etc.

ok so youve set up some instrument tracks, now in the mixer select a track youve just changed to an instrument, click the input, not the insert the input, fromhere you can now select vsti instruments, once youve selected what you want, it will now be on that channel,,,, cool huh, right now youve selected your instrument, now go back to the arrangement page, you can close the mixer and also the instrument page, it will still be enabled for that track.

right so now we need to change a setting, when logic is installed it is setup a certain way by defualt we will quickly change that. go to the options tab, then preferences then global, in the drop down menu at the bottim you need to chenge it to say double click sequence to open matrix edit. ok

save that and close, now back in the arrangement page, grab the pen tool and left click infront of the track which is now an instrument, a part should appear, now becouse of the setting we have just changed, select the cursor tool again and double click the part and the matrix will open, now you can mess around with the instrument,, i hope this has all made sense.

ok so youve seen some logic audio setup prcedures, if you are happy with the way its setup, make sure its all the way you want it, goto the file tab click save as and call it autoload, make sure you save the autoload file in the logic audio folder and now every time you open logic it will open this page as defualt.

ok i hope this all made sense,,,its now up to you a bit to get your head into logic audio,,,,have fun
