For PC users with Soundforge

Programsome some drums in Logic/Cubase. Then render as wav file, open the wav file in Soundforge. Goto Direct X, select Sonic Foundry Click and Crakle removal. Mess about with the various parameters, the trick here is to check the box that indicates "Keep residual Output". Wow listen to those mental clicking and popping sounds coming out the speakers. Click OK, save as (don't save over original wav). Now pull it back into you sequencer, mix it with the original drums. Doesn't sound that different? That's because the 2 wavs are lined up exactly, all you have done is extracted the sharp transients from the drums and then played them back at the same time they occur. Try moving the clicky wav in 32 or 16th increments. Now it gets interesting, notice how the clicks add to the sequence. Some very effective results can be acheived from experimenting with this. Next time your mates come round your studio they will be like "what the F**k have you done to them drums dude" to which you reply "I mashed um up big time with 15 plug-in processors, bused it out to a PA speaker in the bathroom and then recorded the result witha £2.50 Tandy microphone I foundon a car boat sale"... he he ha
