.APE plugin for Adobe Audition</span>

hello mate, welcome to the site, http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/2thumbs.gifi cant say i have personally heard of .ape, but what does it do, maybe there is another way to do the same thing, is .ape a vst plugin?
and hey man whats the qcd player like, does it play movies?
anyway thanks for dropping by http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/bigteeth.gif

.ape is a lossless audio compressor
(the best as far as i'm concerned)
QCD (as it is coined) is ALL GOOD man
yeah it plays video too
click the link in my last/first (heh heh) post and it goes to their home page...
monkeys audio home page</font> (http://www.monkeysaudio.com/)
i hope my sig works http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley5.gif

i have to mention why i need this thing >
i am recording my vinyl into my computer
and considering .mp3 throws away 95%:smiley3:http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley18.gifhttp://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley11.gif
of the music ,it makes sense to use a lossless encoder
rather than a lossy one . the records have to be recorded real time
and if i'm going to bother doing this at all i may as well keep most of it
but yeah head on over to the QCD</font> (http://beta.quinnware.com/index.php) site
for a primo little player...
and thanks for the welcome Tobes:smiley17:

well if you dont mind not compressing them is wav no good for you, never heard of monkey audio before, if i wasnt so picky about what i install on my studio pc i would check it out, but there has to be some kind of loss in any compression i suppose.
when youve got some mix's saved with this format youll have to post a link so i can check out the sound quality.
cheers man, sorry i cant help any more, me personally i like to use .wma audio when i compresshttp://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley10.gif

man i uncompressed an alice in chains album called DIRT from .ape and
it was 1 gig as a .wav so yeah .wav is too big i only have 120 gig hard
drive
and monkeys audio compressor is LOSSLESS man no loss at all audio wise.
i do have a sample in .ape ready to go it's an aphrodite tune called
music's hypnotising but the thing is huge man it's 11mb in mp3 and 200
as a .wav but in .ape it's 125http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley5.gif
monkeys front end is all good man i recommend it and i'm sure it won't
do any bad sh*t to your machine and if it does the guys email address
is in the help file that comes with it so ... go nuts mate . let me
know what you think of it .
tried QCD yet ?

well that lossless plugin sounds a bit over the top for me, no hard feelings but once youve stuck that audio on a cd youve lost that sound you had anyway, so all my studio equiptment is running at a straight forward 16bit 44100htz, any quality higher than that i will just convert it down again, my mixing desk is digital so no matter how good a quality the sound, my mixing desk will be chuckiing the sound through the dac's.
i didnt actually install QCD not that it didnt look cool, but im on the tip if it aint broke why fix it, im sitting infront of my studio pc right now, i prefer the least amount of programs installed, this gives me maximum time inbetween intervals for formatting, but also keeps conflicts down to a minimum.
so you got any tunes we can listen too, and sorry to hear your on a 56k modem, you wont be able to enjoy all the good stuff we have here without broadbandso you better get on the phone and order that in http://www.itstooloud.com/webwiz/smileys/smiley19.gif

no worries man, 600k thats just for my internet my phone is on amother line, im with ntl, they use coaxial cable, just waiting for them to up the speed or i will move company's, theres some viceos price wars in england with the companys, we must have 50 companys offering broadband, from what i saw its cheaper here than it is in america, but then i think they all get fibre optics which will go sh*t loads quicker than here http://www.itstooloud.com/smileys/smiley19.gif
they always have it bigger and better dont they, you heard of ultrawide band, its 100 times quicker than the fastest lines you can use today, its the future of the internet, and in ten years everyone will have it.
cant wait for that, streaming DVD's would be cool.

How about use the flac or shn (shorten) audio file compressors.
They are non-lossy and for those who can't stand what mp3 does to audio.
FLAC seems to be what most everybody is using. It's probably not as
small as an MP3 but it is certainly smaller than the WAV file it
compresses.
